• Question: I don't understand the problem with getting an ultrasound before an abortion. I was at the clinic last week and I got one and it was because I didn't know exactly how far along I was. The ultrasound screen was turned away from me and they didn't show me the images. It wasn't a big deal.     The problem with it is that a lot of people will have to pay for these ultrasounds themselves and some may not have the money for it making abortion even more difficult for people to get. There is also the fact that in most cases it’s not needed and having to under go and unnecassary medical procedure for no reason. Also there are different types of ultrasounds and one that some women are forced to get if they want an abortion is a transvaginal ultrasound where the probe is inserted into a womans vagina to get the image needed. This is even more horrifying when the fact that some people getting abortions may have been rape victims.
